I’m Sarah, Your Radical Sobriety Guide

As a Registered Nurse and Certified Nurse Psychotherapist with over a decade of experience in medicine, public health, harm reduction, and trauma-informed care, I’ve had the profound privilege of supporting thousands of individuals through some of their most challenging moments. What continues to astonish me, even now, is how deeply ingrained our cultural reliance on alcohol remains, marketed as a cure-all, even as rates of anxiety, burnout, and disconnection continue to rise.

I’m not here to hand you a step-by-step sobriety plan. I’m here to ask better questions.

I spent nearly two decades drinking in a way that appeared perfectly fine from the outside. I was high-functioning, keeping everything seemingly under control, while quietly unraveling beneath the surface. It wasn’t until I began viewing my life through a different lens that I recognized my dependency for what it truly was: a mask I used to hide behind.

Letting go of alcohol wasn’t some dramatic bottoming out. It was a slow unraveling and a radical return to myself. That experience, along with my clinical background, is what shapes my work today.

Through Wayward Sober, I offer coaching and community for people who live in the in-between. Folks who don’t feel at home in traditional recovery spaces but know that alcohol is taking up too much space in their lives. My approach aims to help people untangle their drinking story and start building something more honest and real.

Whether I’m holding space for someone’s quiet reckoning or calling out the cracks in the system, my goal is always the same. I want to dismantle shame and help people come back to their own inner compass.
